Lions, Cousins, and Aunts, Oh My!!!

This past weekend, Kevin's Aunt Mary and Cousin Laura traveled to Ohio to meet Keegan. Laura also brought her 18 month old daughter, Callie. On Saturday afternoon, we traveled to the Akron Zoo. Keegan had a wonderful time and was more amused by the "exotic kids" then the animals!

After a few hours at the zoo, Keegan was exhausted! Thank goodness for the Baby Bjorn! After a good 40 minute nap on mom he was ready for more fun times at the zoo!

After the zoo and more naps for Keegan and Callie, we all met back at our house for a cookout. We spent the evening feeding the ducks and eating some good comfort food! The highlight of the evening was finding Callie redecorating our family room with an entire box of Kleenex. Who know that Kleenex could make a room "pop"!

Kevin later told me that his Aunt Jane turned to him at the end of the weekend and simply stated, "You are so blessed." Now that Keegan is 4 months old and the fog is slowly lifting from this haze of motherhood I stop and think about Aunt Jane's comment. And yes Aunt Jane, Kevin and I are so blessed to have each other and to have such a wonderful child. I am definitely loving this chapter of my life!

June 20th

June 20th is a date that has mixed emotions for our family. The date contains both emotions of sadness and happiness. June 20th, 1970 is Kevin's birthday. This year he turns 39 years old!! Next year marks the big 4-0! Happy Birthday babe!

On the flip side, June 20th, 2005 marks a tragic date for our family. My cousin, Adam Clever was killed in a car accident. Every year since his death, his mom travels back to Ohio to visit his grave site. This year her daughter, Sarah, traveled back to Ohio to be with her mom. Even though it was for sad reasons, it did allow for our family to be together this weekend. It also let both my aunt and my cousin meet Keegan. And, Keegan will be the first person to tell you that he fell in love with Sarah. Sarah would sing songs to Keegan and tickle him all over. He could not stop smiling and laughing at Sarah.

We had a great time being with Sarah and Cheryl on Saturday. On my drive home from my parents house I had a chance to reflect on my cousin Adam. I have always felt terrible for the pain that Cheryl and Sarah have gone through because of Adam's death. I have always felt that my Aunt Cheryl has been an extremely strong person. But, it has not been until Keegan's birth that I realize what a truly strong woman my Aunt Cheryl is. I hope to never understand the pain that she goes through due to the loss of her child. I hope you know Aunt Cheryl that you are a wonderful, beautiful, and courageous woman! Our family loves you and only prays for wonderful days ahead for you. Please know that we continue to think of Adam and I know that he is looking down from Heaven watching over our families...

Time with Dad

Kevin's family is originally from Pennsylvania. So, he was raised to root for the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Steelers. So, he is raising Keegan to do the same. They both snuggled up to watch the Stanley Cup Finals every night. Well, Keegan must have been the good luck charm because the good guys won! Kevin was so excited to see the Penguins win! Sorry about your loss Tim.
Now, I am a Cleveland Browns fan and Kevin is a Pittsburgh Steelers fan...so Keegan will have to decide which team to root for when he gets older. But there is no question about which baseball team Keegan likes...THE INDIANS!!!
